Princess Cruises has opened its first whiskey bar on the Australia-based Dawn Princess selling 63 varieties from around the world.
Bartenders are on hand to provide advice, serving by the nip as well as creating a daily flight of three whiskies for sampling different flavours. The menu draws on remote region Scottish whiskies such as Talkiser, classic American bourbons like Knob Hill, and local drops including Bakery Hill’s Double Wood whiskey from Melbourne and New Zealand’s South Island Single Malt.
Renewed public interest in whiskey prompted the decision to create the specialist menu in the existing Magnums bar during the ship’s refurbishment in May, said Stuart Allison, Princess Cruises vice president Australia and New Zealand.
“The new concept makes whiskey approachable for all our guests so we think it will be a big hit, with guests able to enjoy a drop after dinner and a show or during a languid sea day,” Allison said.
